DATA SOURCES

Where the information comes from

Molecular properties, identifiers, 2D diagrams, and compound records come from the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s PubChem database. Experimental protein structures come from the RCSB Protein Data Bank. Records may be updated by their source databases.

HOW IT WORKS

Live scientific records

When you search, MoleculAR retrieves available chemical properties and structural coordinates, then converts them into interactive 2D and 3D learning views. Calculated properties and experimental measurements are clearly presented but may not exist for every compound.

LIMITATIONS

Models are representations

3D conformers show a plausible or experimentally determined arrangement, but molecules move and can adopt multiple shapes. Polarity labels simplify several properties and should be used as study guidance—not as a replacement for experimental data.

EDUCATIONAL USE

Safety and medical disclaimer

MoleculAR is an educational resource, not medical advice or a laboratory safety manual. Hazard classifications depend on concentration, dose, exposure route, and conditions. Always consult the current Safety Data Sheet before handling a chemical.

PRIVACY

Minimal local preferences

MoleculAR does not require a separate account. Your light or dark theme preference is stored locally in your browser. Scientific searches are sent securely through MoleculAR’s server to PubChem or RCSB; the site does not sell search histories or use them for advertising.

ACCESSIBILITY

Designed for more learners

The site supports keyboard controls, readable contrast, responsive layouts, dark mode, descriptive labels, and reduced-motion preferences. Chemical formulas retain proper subscripts and superscripts for clearer scientific reading.
